Exercise After Pregnancy

I have a friend who is expecting, and she really wasn’t sure if she was excited about having a baby when she first found out. She’s happily married, but she was never sure if she was mother material. It’s too late now, of course, and she’s grown to be very excited about the little boy that she will have in a few months. My friend has always been picky about her body, and she is already talking about what exercise after pregnancy she will do to get back into shape.

I don’t think it’s going to take her very long to get back into shape no matter what exercise after pregnancy she chooses. She’s slender and has always been slender, and I don’t think a pregnancy is going to change that. She has recently sent me shots of her belly, and she hasn’t seemed to gain anything extra except, of course, for the baby she is carrying. She looks really great, and I think the amount of exercise after pregnancy she has to do to be her old self again will be very minimal, if she has to do anything at all.

What I do know is that exercise after pregnancy has to start out as a very small effort. She doesn’t know it yet, but she is not going to have a lot of time or energy for the first few weeks to even think about it. She’s going to be exhausted and exercise after pregnancy is going to be the last thing on her mind until she can finally get some sleep. After that, she knows that she has to start out small so her body has time to get back to normal internally as well as externally.

If you are thinking about exercise after pregnancy, you want to talk to your doctor to see what they recommend. Every woman is different, and so is every pregnancy. If you have any complications whatsoever from the pregnancy or the birth, your doctor may give you special rules to follow. You want to get into shape, but you don’t want exercise after pregnancy to harm your body in anyway. You will have plenty of time to worry about your figure, but you don’t want to worry about it too soon. If you were thin beforehand, you won’t have a lot of trouble regaining your shape. You just have to be smart about it and you’ll be all right.
