What type of supplements are good for improving a persons liver?

My cousin has asked me to post the question for him. He has elevated SGPT, SGOT, and BILIRUBIN levels and is wondering if there is a supplement or medication that he could get to help lower those levels in his liver.
SGPT- 95 (Normal range 7-56)
SGOT-45 (Normal range 8-40)
BILIRUBIN – 1.6 (Normal range 0.2-1.3)

  1. I don’t know the science behind it all, which is probably best left for the doctor’s to deal with, but I know that the suppliment line I take has a pill available called Liver DTX, which is designed to repair and maintain your liver.

I have been taking their other suppliments for 2 years now, and this is the first year that I can ever remember not getting sick through the holidays, even though everyone in our house did. If they can keep me from getting sick, I have every faith that the liver repair pill would do wonders as well.

  2. Considering the liver is a filter, I believe less drugs/chemicals, not more, would be beneficial. Drink more water? Just my opinion. I really couldn’t say. I tend to take a minimalist approach to medicine.

  3. I have seen in the vitamin isle at walmart some kind of supplement you can take that will help cleanse your liver. I think it’s called "liver aid". Hope this helps!

  4. I know Dandelion Extract and Milk Thistle are taken for liver health. I would suggest an herbal supplement that contains those two, plus several other herbs for liver health. They can be found in any health food store under names like "Opti-Liver" or "Liver Aid," etc. They usually suggest a 3-capsules-a-day regimen. I take them myself. Good luck!

  5. i’ve done a course of a herbal liver cleansing tablet, they really improved the health and function of my liver. try your health store or pharmacy?
