Want to Offer Great Back Massages?

Everybody likes to get a massage but not everybody feels comfortable giving them to somebody. Most individuals are usually fearful of hurting someone else. We are scared that we may not help enough. We are scared that the individual getting the massage won’t like what we’re doing. Fortunately, it is perfectly possible to learn how to give a great massage whenever you wish to do so. Here is how you can give a great back massage whenever you wish to.

To start off, be sure that the person is comfortable while lying down. Firm and soft are the aim when it comes to the surface on which they are lying down. You don’t need a massage table table but you can try to have them lie down on a bed. If they are on your floor, lay down a mat or a few soft blankets or towels so that they will feel more at ease. If the massage person wishes to keep his or her shirt on, be sure that the shirt is made of a softer material to avoid accidental scratches and friction build up.

Start with a few basic rubbing. Use the entire flat side of both hands to rub from the lower back toward the neck (do this in a slow manner). Put some pressure into this rub but don’t start with the full on massage yet. Start at the base of the person’s back and then move your hands up the back then across the shoulders and then back down the back. As you keep on doing this, make your loops smaller and smaller so that you are certain to cover the entire back.

Try to use the heels of your hands to generate good and direct pressure. Work the heels of your palms in small circles starting in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides and then upwards and back in until you’ve massaged all areas of the back.

Sit on one side of the individual who is getting your massage. Next, putting one hand on top of your other hand, push into the back with your fingers. Start at the spine and push steadily and with firm pressure across the back away from the spine and then gently sort of slide your hands back across the back toward the spine and move up. Do this again as you try to work up the back and then do the same thing on the person’s other side.

Massage the spine. Begin at the base of the spinal column and work up each of the sausage-y muscles on each side of the spine with your fingers or your thumbs. Work up a bit of friction in each node by rubbing each one at least five times. Rub one side of the spinal column and then the other.

It is crucial also to relax the person repeatedly between each section of the massage that you are offering. This means that after you have used the heels of your hands for specific applied pressure, you must go back to the rub you used at the beginning for a few minutes.
