The 3 Myths Of Making Money With Podcasts Debunked

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you will know that podcasting has become one of the hottest trends on the internet today. More and more people are making podcasts to promote their business today then ever before and with ease. Podcasts are a great way to deliver value to your listeners and build your online brand. But can you really make money from podcasts? If so, is it really easy or does it take a lot of work? There are a ton of myths surrounding the world of making money with podcasts. In this article, I would like to debunk the biggest three.

Myth # 1 – It’s very hard to create a podcast and unless you have a background in radio or are a DJ, it wont sound right.

This cannot be any further from the truth. Podcasts can be made by podcasters with as little equipment as a mic and a Desktop/Laptop. People today on the web are looking for authenticity not perfection. They want different sources for their information and with the platform of podcasting and the super ease of making them, fans are finally receiving what they want. Raw, uncut, honest information delivered by the experts who would not otherwise be able to have the skill or money to go out on the media.

Myth # 2 – Nobody makes money with podcasts.

While it does not make sense for charging people to listen to your podcast, it does make sense to develop brand and reputation with your podcasts so that you can become an authority in your subject. By being an authority more doors will open and you will be able to find more avenues to make more money. Again, podcasting is a tool. It will not alone make you money but the way you use it will determine how much make you money.

Myth # 3 – It takes very long to put your podcast online.

One of the things I love to tell my clients who got o me and ask about using podcasting to build their businesses is that they do not need to get it up absolutely perfectly, they only need to get it up! Now I am not saying that you should deliver poor quality but rather, aim to not try and perfect the podcast. Always remember people are searching for authenticity so it does not really matter if other people are making their podcasts more stylish. I am sure that when they started they did not get it perfect either. They did however get their first one up and that’s what matters the most.

Podcasting is here to stay. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you know of or have enjoyed a podcast yourself. So why not put one up yourself? It’s easy to do so and you do not need a lot of cash or experience. Also if done right, you can build a massive brand and make more money in the process. The most important thing of all is to not wait. Get out there and put up your first podcast online!
