Being a young boy, I was always unwell. I spent a lot of my young life in and out of hospitals and, for that reason, was never physically strong. Being a teenager, I was thinner and also shorter than my colleagues, and normally picked on in school.

Being an amateur if serious bicyclist is one way that I stay strong and healthy. Track racing does need me to keep lean muscle, a lithe body and sure-footedness. I don’t compare, say, to musclemen out there who knock assailants down with their bare hands.

In my junior year while attending college, I decided to go out of my campus dormitory for a place in a row of boardinghouses just outside the school grounds. Even though security would be nowhere near as tight, I did it to save money and start living more independently.

In my neighborhood, there was a certain part which everybody liked to avoid since it was a breeding ground for thieves. A few of my friends had been robbed over there thus they all avoided it like the plague.
