Health Counseling – Leptin; the Hormone in Charge

When the body depends on sugar for fuel, it impedes the normal functions of leptin, the “chief” of the hormonal chain of command. Leptin is in charge of your pituitary hormones, which regulate your thyroid functions. The thyroid gland controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes proteins, and governs how sensitive the body should be to other hormones. If you have chronic fatigue or are cold all the time, it’s probably going to be thyroid related.

Wellness Coaching – Most Americans are Malnourished

Most people are malnourished. I’m not talking about people living in impoverished, third-world nations either. I’m talking about middle-class Americans. Because their diet consists mainly of starch, sugar, and GMO’s (genetically modified organisms), the body is prevented from the intake of trace minerals, essential fatty acids, and anti-oxidants that it requires to rebuild and repair tissue, and to maintain a slightly alkaline state.

Wellness Coaching – Fat is Necessary for the Human Diet

We have been given incorrect knowledge regarding dietary fats by the Food and Drug Administration. Saturated fat has been a huge part of the diet of the homo sapiens species for the last 25,000 years. It’s only been in the last 1/10 of 1% (5000 years) where agriculture has gradually replaced fats with sugars (from complex carbohydrates), that our source of fuel for the body has dramatically shifted.

Wellness Coaching – Our Bodies Are Not Designed for Sugar

The average American is over ten times more likely to contract diabetes today compared to fifty years ago. Heart disease, cancer, and stroke continue to increase in epidemic proportions. In 2006, the United States was number 1 in terms of health care spending per capita but ranked 39th for infant mortality, 43rd for adult female mortality, 42nd for adult male mortality, and 36th for life expectancy. So why do we spend so much and get so little in return?

Wellness Coaching – The Advantages of Tea Over Coffee

Thomas Edison once said, “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” In the early 20th century, Dr. Otto H. Warburg discovered that all forms of cancer have two basic conditions: high acidity and oxygen deficiency. He believed that the root cause of cancer is oxygen deficiency because he discovered that cancer cells are anaerobic (do not breathe oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of oxygen, as found in an alkaline state.

Wellness Coaching – Advantages of a Gluten-Free Diet

The Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic is on fire. After winning 43 straight matches, including 41 in 2011– something that hasn’t been done since 1984 — he plowed through the quarter finals then the semi-finals at Wimbledon this year. Even hadn’t won Wimbledon, his winning streak would have rewarded him with enough points to put him in the top spot, ranking him as the #1 men’s tennis player in the world. But, of course, he did win.
