Personal Training Mosman: Helping Teens Lose Weight With a Personal Trainer

Personal trainers are a great resource for teenagers who want to lose weight and increase their fitness levels. Once upon a time, it was unheard of for an adult of average income to hire a personal trainer. Trainers were thought of as an expensive luxury for celebrities and the fitness-obsessed ultra-rich. Today, it is common for people interested in health, fitness and/or weight loss to work with a personal trainer to improve their results. Like all other age groups in the U.S., obesity in teenagers is on the rise. High school physical education requirements have been minimized in recent years, while school lunches are all too often high in calories and low in nutrition.

However, protein shakes are a supplement, NOT a meal replacement. One of the biggest mistakes that most people make is trading quality food for the convenience of protein shakes. Now don’t get me wrong, I think protein shakes are essential for building muscle and dropping fat. I also understand that most people are on the run all day and might not have the time or desire to sit down and eat turkey, chicken or fish all the time. Getting six pack abs is all about raising your metabolism.

Believe it or not, it’s not that most people aren’t working hard enough to develop a six pack, they just have bad habits that stop them from seeing results! It is interesting to me just how many people I observe – both teenagers and adults in the gyms and health clubs – who work out their abdominal as if the clock is on them. Before we get form sorted, programs set and exercises laid out, we observe old habits so we can either encourage them or alter where necessary. This is where the ‘speed’ thing seems rather common – it is quite surprising.

While personal trainers can coach your teen through every workout session, you may want to choose a less frequent appointment. Your teen may just need a few sessions to set some goals and learn the correct way to exercise. After the first appointment, it is a good idea to meet with a personal trainer at regular intervals. This helps keep fitness and weight loss goals on track and provides accountability. In addition, exercise routines should be varied to hold your teen’s interest, as well as for maximum physical benefit. Group training sessions may also be available. Training together with friends or family might be a fun and more affordable option.

It is important to ensure that there is a healthy relationship between the trainer and the trainee as this will automatically improve the outcome of the personal training. Before getting on to working out in your local gym with the best personal trainer, go and have a walk around the area and make a list of things which you want and which you do not want.
