Try and do 50:50
If you work out your abs, with still abit of a belly, it usually builds up your abs without burning fat so the belly just stays there and sticks out more =)

This is a great Ab workout 5/5. But if you want to have great and straight abs i suggest to search up AbRipperX from P90x workouts.

everybody has “a six-pack”, otherwise everyone would sag like a banana. 95 % of the training is to get your bodyfat to a low percentege. Only 5 % is actually training the abs
