As an engineer, Gary had an interest in the design and durability of the structures and saw them dense and as friable. This inspired him to create frames for his son. He used his proficiency of the drag racing and altered it to make the tubing in the design of the BMX bicycles. This was successful for the young Turner and it wasn’t long before the BMX’s frames were needed and as a result, he commenced churning out the frames for other BMX riders.

1974:, Richard Long, who owned a bike shop was fascinated by Gary’s frames’ demand he approached him with intent to being a dealer for his frames. In 1979, they founded a relationship collectively.

Despite a number of holdups, the alliance grew to be one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of not only BMX bicycles, but also mountain and leisure bikes as well, and while the business expanded the range of bikes did so too.
