Do you have to do heavy weight lifting to get muscle mass or can you do basic exercises?

I was wondering since I am not that into weight lifting and just want to gain muscle mass with doing normal exercises will it work. I know people say to do compound exercises with less reps and alot of weight. But is that necessary? Couldn’t I just take alot of Protein and Carbs , do Push-ups,sit-ups,dips,pull ups, chin ups, calf raises, front squats?

Its the consistancy not the amount of heavy weights.

well, you want to watch the amount of carbs and food your taking in, if thats all your workout. I would suggest doing high weight low reps to gain muscle mass. Trust me it works. I used to only bench 140 pounds and squat 225 pounds in 9th grade, and now 4 years later, as a college freshman, I bench 290 pounds, and squat over 415 pounds. That is how to gain muscle mass, and along the way, you will also gain tone, if you watch what you eat, and take protein.
